20th Anniversary Scholarship Program

June 13, 2020

Throughout the COVID-19 crisis and civil unrest surrounding racial injustices across the country, the Charles H. Wesley Education Foundation has continued its support of mentoring programs and causes impacting communities across Metro Atlanta.

Since 1990, Charles H. Wesley Education Foundation has partnered with the DeKalb Alphas Mentoring Initiative (D.A.M.I.) providing funding for its youth enrichment activities and annual Scholarship Beautillion program.

The 20th Anniversary Scholarship Beautillion, a black-tie fundraising banquet and recognition program for young men graduating high school, was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Like high school graduation, the annual banquet is a right of passage for D.A.M.I. participants, and a community-wide celebration supported by their male mentors, family members, community organizations, and local businesses.

While the 2020 event could not commence in its normal fashion, CHWEF and DeKalb Alphas came together to host a drive-up program on Saturday, June 13 to honor and reward nearly 20 young men in front of their families and a live stream on Facebook.

It was extremely significant to celebrate the young men who have achieved a wonderful milestone and distribute more than $16,000 in college scholarships.

Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
